AIX NIM Disaster Recovery

These are the required steps to use NIM in your disaster recovery procedure.

Create Mksysb Image

Check network and DNS requirements for your host / network
- AIX NIM Network
- Host needs A and PTR records
Check storage NIM server
- The NIM server needs at least the amount of space of the rootvg of the host
Create nim client
- AIX NIM Client
Create the image
- create_a_mksysb_image

Restore Mksysb Image

Restore the image
- restore_a_mksysb_image
- AIX NIM Client Installation

Test Restore Mksysb Image

These are the steps for a test, so you create an entire new client for testing purposes. In this case we restore to a LPAR in an IVM. Before starting, determine a host name and IP-address what can be used.

Create required boot lun
- NetApp Storage
Detect lun inside VIOS/IVM
- AIX VIOS
Create LPAR
- AIX IVM LPAR Creation
Create DNS records
- Create A and PTR records
Create NIM Client
- AIX NIM Client
Restore the image
- restore_a_mksysb_image
- AIX NIM Client Installation
