This is a small tutorial on how to cut parts of AVI videos.
The tool we'll use for the cutting of the videos is VirtualDub. I use the portable edition which can be downloaded
here.
Follow these steps to cut an AVI video:
Go to 'File' → 'Open video file…'
Once opened, we need to mark the start and the end of the videofile. Use the slider to go the the first frame you want to keep.
Click the 'Mark In' button
Use the slider to go the the last frame you want to keep.
Click the 'Mark Out' button
Notice on the slider bar the gray area between the mark in and mark out points. This indicates the part we'll keep.
Go to 'Video' and select the option 'Direct Stream Copy'
Go to 'Audio' and select the option 'Direct Stream Copy'
Go to 'File' → 'Save as AVI'
VirtualDub will now start saving the selected part and will display a new window to keep you informed on the progress.
